Celebrating Fall Senior Athletes in Style
The first official senior night in almost two years kicked off on November 12, 2021. Students from all grades came in hoards to honor the senior athletes of cross country, football, air riflery, and girl’s volleyball.
The action-packed night started with the pre-game tailgate party. Burgers, music, and friends filled the Cooper House parking lot and ignited the school spirit for the rest of the night.
Then, the student body moved into the gym bleachers where the excitement continued. The girl’s volleyball match against Maui Prep was about to begin. As the pre-game excitement peaked, the lights dimmed and the crowd silenced. The spotlight turned on and with his booming voice, Mr. Higa announced the athletes competing in the showcased game. One by one, each athlete enthusiastically entered the volleyball court, with many cartwheeling and piggy-backing their way to the match.

After the athletes made their superstar entrances, the long-awaited game was ready to commence. Many impressive sets, digs, and spikes led to a great performance by the volleyball team. After each point, the crowd roared for their peers on the court with ferocious yet respectful cheers. The bleachers were filled with blue pom-poms flying in the air while spectators stomped the ground leaving a powerful boom in its wake. The spirit committee amplified the hype by initiating student-wide waves and fun candy giveaways. The support of the crowd and the hard work of the athletes led to victory for the volleyball girls. The Spartans demolished Maui Prep (3-0).
Following the lively win, the next activity on this spirited night was the Human Tunnel. The fall athletes from the class of 2022 enthusiastically ran through this tunnel, which expanded almost the entire length of the volleyball court. As a long-standing Seabury Hall Senior Night tradition, it was electrifying for the Seabury Hall community to see this custom return.
With the last of the senior class reaching the tail-end of the tunnel, the evening continued with excitement. The senior video highlighted each senior athlete from this past fall sports season and gave each competitor time to reflect on their athletic careers throughout high school. Many seniors thanked their coaches for their leadership, highlighted the loving support of their families, and wished the underclassmen success in their future athletic seasons.

To conclude the night’s activities, the spirit committee organized a competitive and fun dodgeball tournament. Costumed in team themes, students and faculty fought valiantly in hopes of achieving victory. Colorful foam balls were thrown across the room relentlessly across the gym until two teams achieved success and made it to the finals. The Daddy Dodgers, a team of Juniors, and a Sophomore team named the Retro Ballers, played hard to win the best out of three matches. Although the Retro Ballers won the first game, the Daddy Dodgers made a comeback and achieved victory in the next two matches, giving them the overall win.
With the dodgeball champions crowned, the eventful night full of spirit and fun was finally over. It was great to see this Seabury Hall tradition honoring the senior class return to the Seabury Hall community. Congratulations to the fall athletes from the class of 2022.
