Girls Volleyball SETS-UP for a Promising Season With Victory & Sports are back at Seabury Hall!
After a year without official matches, Seabury’s Girls Volleyball Team won back-to-back victories over Molokai. In their inaugural match, the Spartans toppled Molokai (win 3-0, win 3-1) over the two days of game play.
Alexa De Crinis, a senior on the successful girl’s volleyball team, was excited to get back on the court: “Missing junior year was really stressful and I was excited to get back into the game and being able to be on varsity this year as a setter is very exciting.” De Crinis added that being able to travel with her team to Molokai “was a whole new experience and … the whole team became more connected and united with each other.”
The Girls Volleyball team continued their winning streak by defeating St. Anthony’s team 3-0. Kekua Richards hit 8 kills and Malia Bennett scored 6 kills and 5 aces.

In addition to their spikes and digs, the Girl’s Volleyball Team organized their annual Dig-Pink Match against Kamehameha, which took place on October 27, 2021. All funding and proceeds were donated to metastatic breast cancer research and treatment. The girls raised money through bake sales, ticket purchases, and donations.
During this Covid-19 pandemic, Seabury athletic teams had the opportunity to play limited un-official games against other private schools within the Maui Interscholastic League (MIL). Now with new safety protocols in place, such as limited spectators, mask mandates, vaccination requirements, and a minor delay in season’s start, official matches and practices are to resume regular season play.
“I get to see the excitement in the eyes of the kids again, working hard, training, practicing, really putting in the time and effort to be successful in their craft,” says Coach Scott Prather, the Seabury Hall Athletics Director. “It is so exciting to see the energy pick up on campus and to see people just enjoying their passions of the sports they love to play.”
Other fall sports are ready to recommence with official matches as well. Air Riflery is set to pull-the-trigger with their first two meets on October 30 and November 13 at Baldwin High School. Also, we are all waiting enthusiastically for the game dates for Spartan Football which are to be released very soon.
Spartan Cross Country showed its winning spirit with both Jacob Romero and Micah Brighton taking the third and fourth place positions. Superstar Girls Cross Country Team members Kaylee Volner(1st), Layne Millen (3rd), Rylee Stout (5th) and Kayla Bush (6th) placed with the top times as well. The Seabury Hall invitational the next week also yielded amazing results. Kaylee Volner received the gold for the second week in a row with Lyne Millen close behind in second place.
