Sierra Schonberg, Staff Writer

Sierra Schonberg is currently a junior at Seabury Hall, which she has been attending since her freshman year. Raised in the small island community of Petersburg, Alaska, known for its strong Norwegian roots, Schonberg grew up surrounded by the world of commercial fishing. Before starting high school, Schonberg moved to Maui with her parents in search of a warmer climate. After some time adjusting to a new life, she began to love Seabury and all that it has to offer. Schonberg began dancing in Alaska at the age of three, developing a passion that drove her to join the Seabury Hall dance company her junior year, which she participates in year round. During her freshman year, Schonberg joined the school’s Interact Club, and she is currently the president and loves planning community service events. As the treasurer of the junior class, Schonberg likes having leadership opportunities. She has always enjoyed classes in the humanities, especially English. Schonberg is an avid traveler, as she has hiked the Camino de Santiago in Spain and participated in a leadership adventure in Costa Rica. She also journeys back to Alaska every summer to visit friends and family, fish, and connect back to her Scandinavian roots.
