Originally from the small town of Lake Placid, New York, Seabury Hall senior Anabela Cagen and her family were drawn to Maui because of the island’s warm weather and pristine conditions for windsurfing. At age five, Cagen’s parents decided to make the long trek from the cold Northeast to the sunny Hawaiian islands. Since her parents were such avid windsurfers, Cagen now enjoys going to the beach during her freetime with friends to swim or stand-up paddle. Besides going to the beach, she also spends much of her time playing volleyball for Seabury Hall’s girls varsity volleyball team and for her club team, Hawaiian Style Volleyball Club. Cagen enjoys playing volleyball because of its competitive, fast-paced, and dynamic nature and because she gets to play with her best friends, who are more like a second family. To make sure that her last year of high school is going to be memorable and fun, Cagen decided to join student council as a part of fundraising committee in order to make sure that everyone enjoys the school year.
