Kalena Pfaeltzer is currently attending her first year as a freshman here at Seabury Hall. Born and raised on the island of Maui, Pfaeltzer grew up in Wailuku and attended Wailuku Elementary and Iao Intermediate School. Her drive towards academics is the reason why Pfaeltzer now attends Seabury Hall. After hearing about the strong academic program and the success the school has had with preparing kids for college, Pfaeltzer and her parents made the bold decision to enroll her at Seabury Hall. She currently plays soccer for Seabury’s soccer team, though she has quite a history with the sport. Pfaeltzer started playing soccer at the age of about three or four. Her passion for soccer has opened her eyes to many opportunities throughout the years, such as traveling to many places within the state, and out of state. She has traveled to Southern California, Arizona, and Oahu multiple times within the past eight years due to soccer. Pfaeltzer has also started her own soccer shoe drive that allowed her to travel to Savusavu, Fiji over the summer. She collected over 50 pairs of used soccer cleats that she donated to a village near her grandparents’ houses in Fiji. Pfaeltzer also plays for Maui United Soccer Club, a local club in Kahului, which allows her to prosper and continue to get training year around. One of her favorite quotes by Eric Thomas, a motivational speaker from Michigan, helps keep her going each day: “When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful.” Going to a new school and playing soccer with new teammates has taught Pfaeltzer to adjust and continue working so she can be successful.
