Jun Cai is currently a sophomore at Seabury Hall, where she has been attending school since the sixth grade. Cai was born in Shaoguan, China, and moved to Maui at the age of five. One day she hopes to attend college and/or live in Canada under the roof of net zero housing. She is bilingual in Cantonese and English, but she is working to improve her Mandarin. Her favorite subjects fluctuate between English, history, math, and art. Cai hopes to pursue her passion for environmental politics or sustainability with a full scholarship in the future. In September 2014, she sold her first painting (“ʻApapane”) after being awarded the Juror’s Choice Award in the Mālama Wao Akua showcase at Viewpoints Gallery. As a sophomore, she will be a part of the school’s cross country and tennis teams. When off campus, Cai enjoys playing soccer, hiking, cooking, and cuddling with her flawless terrier mix, Nali. She also takes pleasure in watching her favorite TV shows like "Suits" or "Parks and Rec," or enjoying her favorite movies and documentaries, such as "V for Vendetta" and “Food, Inc.” On heavy homework nights, she will frequently give herself a break by cruising through the infinite depths of Tumblr.
