Review: Will you fight for love?

‘Endless Love’ portrays the challenges of young love

For Valentine’s Day, there is always a love movie that all the girls fawn over and all the boys dread. “Endless Love” is one of those classics. The film is a remake of the original “Endless Love” in 1981 and is also loosely based on Scott Spencer’s novel. “Endless Love” portrays young love and all the challenges that it faces: college, work, and, of course, protective fathers.

David Elliot (Alex Pettyfer), a charismatic boy, has always wanted to be with Jade Butterfield (Gabriella Wilde), a privileged girl, but sadly her brother dies in her sophomore year and David’s chances with her fade with her mourning. When graduation arrives, David promises that he will talk to Jade before summer ends, and to his luck, he talks to her that day. Ever since that conversation, they have become inseparable.

Jade never had a typical high school experience, and David is determined to make her last days as a senior the best she ever had. Jade’s father, Hugh (Bruce Greenwood), feels that David does not have his daughter’s intentions in mind and wants him out of his families lives. Hugh’s hatred toward David tears him away from his beloved daughter, so he forbids his daughter to see David by law. David realizes that he needs to fight for Jade because his love for her is endless, and he will do anything to be with her.

David knows that Jade is too good for him, and he tells her, “I know I am not good enough for you but I will spend all my life proving that I am.” This quote was one of my favorite because it shows that he wants her and he will do whatever he has to in order to be with her. This one quote shows love, determination, and honesty.

This romantic movie leaves the audience inspired by love. The actors are strong and bring their story into the eyes of the audience. Pettyfer, as David, and Wilde, as Jade, have incredible chemistry that makes the audience want more. Even though Wilde is as tall as Pettyfer, making the height difference awkward, they work with it instead of against it, making them even cuter to watch.

The costumes are chic and fit the bodies very well of all the actors. They are modern, which helps the younger audience connect with the movie more easily. It brings the audience into a world with love and betrayal that they do not want to leave.

This film is a fantastic love story that will leave the audience wanting more and to inspire them to have love like David and Jade. It is a lovely story that brings tears to the eyes of lovers and those who want to be loved. The life of David and Jade is crazy and maybe difficult to handle, but at least they have each other to love endlessly forever.
