Scrolling through your news feed, your alarm goes off for the second time, and it is already time to go. You realize that Instagram has yet again helped you lose track of time.

Instagram, however, takes up a lot of time for teenagers who also happen to have homework, sports, or just need to get a good night’s rest for the big test happening tomorrow. Today, people do not realize how much time they spend a day going through their newsfeed or watching funny videos.
Anyone who has an Instagram account can relate to the loss of time in a day because looking through someone’s pictures ultimately leads to looking at their best friend’s brother’s girlfriend’s sister’s profile. Going through people’s pages, according to an article posted on Slate.com, can cause jealousy or envy of another person’s life. Teenagers around the world may not realize how obsessed they become of other people just by looking through their photos.
More often than not, social media influences teenager’s lives and the way they live. Having the best clothes, healthiest body and fitting in are a few of the things Instagram idolizes for people to see.
I believe having an Instagram account is irrelevant to life and people’s daily needs. Not having Instagram has helped me focus more on school, get sleep, and ultimately be happy with myself and who I am.
Although Instagram is a way to connect with people, deleting the app from your life could be the best decision ever made. Free time will become a more frequent element in your life. You will also be able to get rid of those nasty bags under your eyes because the amount of sleep you will receive will be more than five hours a night.
Overall, an Instagram-free life is a happy life. The next time you think about logging into your Instagram, think about all the other things you could be doing, like sleeping, eating, doing homework, or even reading a good book.
